N. Korea’s Kim Predicts Stronger Ties with Belarus in Letter to Lukashenko

Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has expressed optimism about the future of North Korea's relationship with Belarus in a letter to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. Kim conveyed his confidence that the two nations' friendship will advance rapidly, as reported by North Korea's state media on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim sent his message in response to a congratulatory letter from Lukashenko, following Kim's reelection as president of the state affairs commission during the first session of the newly formed 15th Supreme People's Assembly. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted Kim as stating his belief that the traditional friendly relations between North Korea and Belarus would progress to a new level, in line with their agreement.

The two leaders recently held summit talks in Pyongyang, where they signed a treaty on friendship and cooperation. This development marks a deepening of ties between the countries, built upon their mutual support for Russia's actions in Ukraine. Both Kim and Lukashenko have described the bilateral ties as having entered a "new stage."

Additionally, Kim extended his wishes for Lukashenko's success in his domestic policies aimed at fostering national prosperity and enhancing the well-being of the Belarusian people, as noted by the KCNA.
