Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un recently supervised a joint offensive drill showcasing new battle tanks, with a notable appearance by his daughter Ju-ae at the helm of one of the vehicles. The exercise, held at the Pyongyang Training Base No. 60 under the Capital City Defence Corps, highlighted Kim's intention to extensively equip ground troops with these "superior" tanks.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the drill involved a coordinated tactical maneuver between infantrymen and tankmen sub-units. The exercise included various tests to evaluate the new main battle tank's active protection system. Notably, the system successfully intercepted all anti-tank missiles and drones launched from multiple positions and directions, demonstrating its effectiveness.
Kim Jong-un praised the new tanks, describing them as "very superior" with unmatched striking power, mobility, and self-defense capabilities. He emphasized the enhancements made to the tank's survivability, particularly its mobile self-defensive complex designed to detect threats from all directions. The complex is capable of precisely targeting and neutralizing anti-tank guided missiles and drones.
The development of these tanks reflects North Korea's focus on advancing its military technology, with Kim underscoring the importance of their deployment to bolster the nation's ground defense forces.
