N. Korea’s Kim Honors Ancestors at Mausoleum for Party Anniversary

Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has paid his respects at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun family mausoleum in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), as reported by state media on Monday. The visit underscores North Korea's continued reverence for its former leaders.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Jong-un, who organized the celebrations marking the WPK's founding anniversary, honored the achievements of the party and state, attributing them to the former leaders. The mausoleum houses the embalmed bodies of Kim Il-sung, North Korea's founder and Kim Jong-un's grandfather, as well as Kim Jong-il, his father and a former leader of the country.

The visit to the mausoleum coincided with a series of events held last week to celebrate the October 10 anniversary, including a military parade attended by international dignitaries such as Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Vietnamese leader To Lam. During the visit, Kim emphasized the enduring impact of the revolutionary achievements of the former leaders on the development and progress of North Korea's socialist state.

Kim reiterated his commitment to upholding the legacy of his predecessors, stating that North Korea's continued advancement in socialist construction will further honor their achievements. He also pledged to devote himself to the prosperity of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and to fulfill the aspirations of its people, as reported by KCNA.
