N. Korean Residents on Wooden Boat Cross Maritime Border in East Sea: Military

Seoul: A wooden boat carrying North Korean residents drifted into waters south of the Northern Limit Line, the de facto inter-Korean maritime border, in the East Sea last week, the military said Thursday. The military detected the boat on Tuesday morning last week, an official said, without providing further details.

According to Yonhap News Agency, at least three people were believed to be on the boat, with all of them expressing their intent to return to the North. The incident highlights ongoing maritime tensions and the challenges of monitoring the Northern Limit Line in the East Sea.
