Seoul: North Korea's Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui is scheduled to arrive in Moscow on Saturday for an official visit, as reported by a Russian media outlet citing a statement from the Russian foreign ministry.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Choe's visit to the Russian capital comes at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The report did not provide further details on the agenda or duration of the visit.

North Korea and Russia have been strengthening their diplomatic and military relations since June 2024, following the signing of a "comprehensive strategic partnership" treaty by their respective leaders. This treaty has been seen as a revival of their Cold War-era military alliance.

In the wake of the agreement, North Korea has deployed approximately 15,000 combat troops to assist Russia in its ongoing conflict with Ukraine. The two nations have also expanded their collaboration across various sectors, further solidifying their bilateral ties.
