According to Yonhap News Agency, this launch follows closely on the heels of another unidentified projectile fired by North Korea from the Pyongyang area on Tuesday. The consecutive launches occurred shortly after South Korea's President Lee Jae Myung expressed regret over drone flights by individuals into North Korean territory on Monday.

The last instance of North Korea firing multiple ballistic missiles toward the East Sea was on March 14, coinciding with annual springtime military exercises conducted by South Korea and the United States.
