N. Korea Criticizes Japan’s National Security Document Revisions

Pyongyang: North Korea on Sunday criticized Japan for its initiative to revise three significant national security-related documents, asserting that such actions will inevitably lead to its own downfall. The North's Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) highlighted this issue in an article that focused on Japan's efforts to draft three new documents by the year's end: the National Security Strategy, the National Defense Strategy, and the Defense Buildup Program.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced in a New Year's press conference earlier this month that a review would be undertaken to revise these key national security documents. The aim is to protect the country's independence and peace, as well as the lives of its citizens.

The KCNA described Japan's move as a "clear demonstration of a craze for neo-militarism," suggesting that Japan is attempting to deny its past wrongdoings and revive its imperial history through rearmament. The KCNA warned that this approach would lead to "complete self-destruction" for Japan. It emphasized that historical patterns show that the path of militarism leads to a failed, rather than a strong, Japan.
