Pyongyang: The largest umbrella labor unions of North Korea and Russia have signed a cooperation agreement following talks in Pyongyang. The North's state media reported the development on Wednesday, highlighting a new phase of collaboration between the two nations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the agreement was formalized by Ri Won-jong, head of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, and Sergei Chernogayev, head of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia. The memorandum of understanding on friendship and cooperation was signed during discussions held in Pyongyang the previous day.

The talks focused on expanding and strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the trade unions of North Korea and Russia, aligning with the growing friendship between the two countries. This initiative marks a significant step as the two nations have recently increased their alignment in various sectors.

A delegation from the Russian trade union, which reportedly includes 19 million workers, has been in North Korea since Monday. This visit underscores the deepening ties between the two countries, particularly following North Korea's deployment of troops to support Russia in its conflict against Ukraine. This military collaboration has seen Russia supplying critical military technology and resources to Pyongyang, further solidifying the partnership between these neighboring countries.
