Major Decline in KOSPI 200 as Samsung Biologics Leads the Downtrend

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index faced a significant downturn with several major stocks experiencing declines in their closing prices. The session saw Samsung Biologics leading the fall, closing at 1,579,000, a decrease of 65,000.

According to Yonhap News Agency, other notable declines included SK, which saw its price drop by 29,500 to 329,000, and Hanmi Semiconductor, which decreased by 28,500 to 305,000. KIWOOM also faced a substantial loss, closing at 415,000, down by 20,500.

Samsung SDS closed at 158,600, marking a reduction of 5,300, while KB Financial Group, Youngone Corporation, and Lotte Shopping each experienced significant declines of 4,800, closing at 142,600, 91,500, and 92,000 respectively. SK Innovation followed with a decrease of 6,700, ending at 118,200.

The telecommunications sector was not spared, with SK Telecom and LG Uplus posting declines of 700 and 370, closing at 75,800 and 14,720, respectively. In contrast, KT managed a slight uptick, closing 500 higher at 59,500.

Other substantial declines included KEPCO with a drop of 4,000, closing at 44,800, and Korea Aerospace, which fell by 9,200 to close at 174,100. Meanwhile, the automotive sector saw DN AUTOMOTIVE buck the trend, rising by 1,200 to 26,300.

Overall, the session was marked by widespread declines, impacting a diverse range of sectors within the KOSPI 200 index.
