Busan: The Lotte Giants announced they have re-signed veteran pitcher Kim Sang-su to a one-year contract. The 38-year-old pitcher, who has been a key figure in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) for 17 seasons, will earn 300 million won (approximately US$206,710) for the 2026 season, marking his fourth year with the Giants.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim has been a pivotal part of the Lotte Giants since joining the team in 2023, appearing in 186 games, the most by any Giants pitcher during that period. His performance ranks him with the 10th highest total appearances in the KBO, underscoring his role as a reliable reliever. Kim also stands second among active pitchers with 140 holds, demonstrating his effectiveness in maintaining leads.
The Giants emphasized Kim's contributions beyond the field, citing his positive influence in the clubhouse through his work ethic and leadership. They expressed confidence in his ability to play a crucial role in the bullpen for the upcoming season. Kim himself shared his enthusiasm about returning to the team, stating his readiness to make sacrifices and contribute to the team's success in the new season.
The re-signing of Kim Sang-su leaves four free agents still unsigned, including Son Ah-seop, a former Hanwha Eagles outfielder and the KBO's all-time hit leader with 2,618 hits.
