Incheon:A life sentence has been finalized for a 63-year-old man convicted of fatally shooting his son with a homemade firearm during a birthday celebration last year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Supreme Court upheld previous rulings last month, confirming the man's guilty verdict on charges of murder, attempted murder, and violating the firearms control law. The court also mandated that he wear an electronic tracking device for 20 years if he is ever released.

The incident occurred in July 2025 at the victim's home in Incheon, west of Seoul. The man shot and killed his 33-year-old son and attempted to kill four others present, including his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

It was revealed that the man had planned the crime since August 2024, motivated by the cessation of financial support from his former wife and their son. He was reportedly suffering from a delusion that his ex-wife and son were conspiring to isolate him from others.
