Seoul: LG Innotek Co., an electronic component manufacturing unit of LG Group, announced a strategic partnership with Applied Intuition, a U.S.-based software firm, to strengthen its physical artificial intelligence (AI) business.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the collaboration aims to enhance LG Innotek's camera, radar, and LiDAR sensors utilized in physical AI products by leveraging Applied Intuition's self-driving system technology. The partnership is set to integrate LG Innotek's components into Applied Intuition's developing autonomous vehicles, which will supply valuable feedback and reference data, thereby improving the performance of these components.
Moon Hyuk-soo, CEO of LG Innotek, expressed confidence in the collaboration, stating, "Through this collaboration with Applied Intuition, which holds world-leading software technology, we will provide customers with exceptional solutions that set a new standard in autonomous driving." He further emphasized that the partnership would elevate LG Innotek to a global top-tier status in mobility robotics sensing solutions, positioning the company as a leader in the physical AI era.
Applied Intuition, serving 18 of the world's top 20 carmakers, offers self-driving software and simulation tools. The U.S. firm noted that while the primary focus of the partnership is automotive, the integrated sensing hardware and autonomy software have potential applications in other industries, including robotics and drones.
