Seoul: LG Energy Solution Ltd., South Korea's leading battery maker, announced that the average utilization rate of its domestic and overseas production facilities rebounded in the first half of the year from a year earlier.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company's production capacity was valued at 27.96 trillion won (US$19.75 billion) during the January-June period, with an average utilization rate of 52.8 percent, as indicated in a regulatory filing. This figure reflects a 5.2 percentage point increase from the 47.6 percent average for all of last year, marking a turnaround after four consecutive years of decline.

LG Energy Solution had previously seen its average production facility utilization rate decrease from 73.6 percent in 2022 to 69.3 percent in 2023, 57.8 percent in 2024, and finally 47.6 percent in 2025. Additionally, the company reported a record-high research and development spending of 725.9 billion won in the first half.
