LG Electronics Unveils CLOiD Robot to Pioneer ‘Zero Labor Home’ Vision

Las vegas: The head of LG Electronics Inc. announced that the company's new CLOiD home robot will be pivotal in achieving its "Zero Labor Home" vision amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). Chief Executive Officer Lyu Jae-cheol, who assumed his position in November, made these remarks during his inaugural press conference at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lyu emphasized that LG's AI initiatives are rooted in home environments. He stated that the CLOiD robot is designed to liberate consumers from domestic tasks, allowing them to concentrate on more meaningful endeavors. This robot, highlighted at CES, aims to transcend manual labor by autonomously deciding on necessary tasks, considering factors like ingredients, schedules, and lifestyle patterns.

Lyu disclosed plans for on-site tests next year, with a release schedule to follow. He suggested that the robot might be available through a subscription model to enhance accessibility and revealed LG's intention to expand its robotic offerings into commercial and industrial domains.

In discussing LG's broader strategy, Lyu underscored the importance of leveraging LG Group's resources, such as batteries and sensors, to advance its robotics business. He also addressed the competitive TV sector, expressing confidence in LG's position in the OLED and LCD markets despite challenges from Chinese competitors.

Lastly, Lyu stressed the need for LG Electronics to break from traditional methods and enhance its competitive edge in a rapidly evolving industry landscape. He highlighted the necessity of swift execution to maintain leadership in the market.
