Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. on Thursday reported its fourth-quarter net loss of 713.7 billion won (US$496.8 million), remaining in the red compared with a year ago. The company announced in a regulatory filing that its operating profit for the October-December period fell by 56.7 percent year-on-year to 135.4 billion won, while sales saw a marginal increase of 0.1 percent, totaling 22.76 trillion won.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the operating profit was 44.6 percent lower than the average estimate, based on a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency. The estimate of net profit for the period was not available.
