LG Electronics Partners with U.S.-Based Ambarella for In-Cabin Sensing Solution.

Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. announced its collaboration with Ambarella, a U.S. artificial intelligence semiconductor design company, to launch an advanced in-cabin sensing solution that utilizes driver and vehicle interior space detection technologies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Electronics is integrating its driver monitoring system (DMS) with Ambarella’s Edge AI System on Chip (SoC). This integration aims to create a more efficient design while also reducing costs. Ambarella’s Edge AI SoC facilitates real-time data processing on local devices, combining essential functions like sensing and computation.

LG Electronics plans to deliver its high-performance DMS solution, enhanced by Ambarella’s high-resolution image processing technology, to global automotive manufacturers. The DMS solution employs cameras to monitor and analyze the driver’s gaze and head movements, detecting unusual behaviors to prevent potential accidents. Upon detection, the system issues alerts to the driver, passengers, and pede
strians through an alarm.

The partnership between LG Electronics and Ambarella is rooted in their mutual commitment to safety technology. Both companies will continue to collaborate to offer automakers in-cabin sensing solutions that comply with enhanced safety assessment standards, such as the New Car Assessment Program.
