Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with Amazon.com Inc. to provide the U.S. e-commerce leader a license to use its Wi-Fi technologies. This agreement permits Amazon to utilize LG's Wi-Fi standard-essential patents, particularly for the company's artificial intelligence (AI) speaker, Alexa, and other associated services.
According to Yonhap News Agency, standard-essential patents are crucial technologies necessary for the production of standardized products. LG Electronics revealed that it is currently engaged in license negotiations with several global companies beyond Amazon, focusing on standard-essential patents associated with Wi-Fi technology.
