Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. announced plans to establish a new research and development (R and D) center in South Korea, aiming to develop products that comply with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. The company has committed 50 billion won (approximately US$35.8 million) to this project, with the center set to open in the first half of 2027 at Changwon National University, located 380 kilometers south of Seoul.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the new facility will be dedicated to LG Electronics' heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) research projects. This includes the development of advanced air solutions tailored for data centers. The R and D center will be equipped with specialized facilities that allow researchers to conduct tests under extreme temperature conditions, thereby ensuring that products can function reliably in various environmental settings.

LG Electronics Vice President Lee Jae-sung expressed the company's intention to strengthen collaborations with the academic sector through the HVAC research center. Lee emphasized the ongoing commitment to developing environmentally friendly air system technologies, aligning with the company's broader goals of innovation and sustainability.
