LG Electronics and KT Corp. Partner for Quantum Direct Communication Research

Seoul: LG Electronics Inc. announced on Wednesday its collaboration with KT Corp., South Korea's second-largest mobile carrier, to jointly research advanced secure communication technologies. The partnership aims to explore cutting-edge solutions to enhance network security amid growing concerns over data protection and privacy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to delve into quantum direct communication technology. This technology promises to bolster network security by ensuring that any data transmitted in a quantum state will become unreadable if intercepted, thereby providing an additional layer of protection against eavesdropping.

The anticipated benefits of quantum direct communication technology are significant, particularly for AI-driven services in various sectors such as homes, smart factories, and autonomous vehicles. By developing these advanced communication solutions, LG Electronics and KT Corp. aim to address the increasing demand for "hyper security" networks capable of safeguarding sensitive information.

This collaboration marks another step in the growing partnership between LG Electronics and KT Corp., who previously embarked on joint research and development initiatives for sixth-generation (6G) networks last year.
