LG Display to Invest 1.26 Trillion Won to Enhance OLED Technology

Seoul: LG Display Co. announced a 1.26 trillion won (US$925 million) investment aimed at enhancing its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) business, marking a significant corporate investment since the new administration in Seoul began.

According to Yonhap News Agency, LG Display revealed in a regulatory filing that the funds will be used to develop advanced OLED technologies as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the global display market. The investment is scheduled to continue until June 30, 2027.

The decision, approved during a board meeting, is notable as the first major investment plan by a domestic company since the Lee Jae Myung administration took office on June 4. LG Display stated that this investment is a part of its broader capital expenditure (CAPEX) plan. The company also emphasized that it will focus on improving its financial structure independently of this new investment initiative.
