Seoul: LG CNS on Thursday reported its first-quarter net income of 80.9 billion won (US$54.5 million), a surge of 41.2 percent from a year earlier.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the company's operating profit for the January-March period was 94.2 billion won, marking an increase of 19.4 percent from the previous year. Sales during the same period rose by 8.6 percent, reaching 1.31 trillion won.

Despite the positive financial results, the operating profit was 1.6 percent lower than the average estimate provided by a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency. The estimate of net profit for the period was not available.
