Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have agreed to further strengthen the strategic partnership between South Korea and Turkey, as announced by the presidential office. The agreement was made during a phone call between the two leaders, highlighting a commitment to expanding their cooperation across various sectors.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the conversation between President Lee and President Erdogan assessed the robust economic collaboration in trade and investment. Both leaders expressed their intent to broaden practical cooperation in critical areas such as defense, arms, nuclear energy, and green energy. Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, in a written briefing, conveyed that the leaders are keen on building upon their mutual interests and shared economic goals.

President Lee expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing development of bilateral relations, emphasizing the historic connection formed during the Korean War. He acknowledged the bond between the two nations and reiterated the importance of continuing to nurture and strengthen these ties.

President Erdogan extended his congratulations to President Lee on assuming office, acknowledging the restoration of democracy in South Korea. He also praised the resilience of the Korean people, highlighting the enduring spirit and determination that have characterized South Korea's progress.
