Lee Retracts Nominations of Constitutional Court Justices

Seoul: President Lee Jae-myung has withdrawn the nominations of two Constitutional Court justices that were put forward by the former acting leader of the preceding Yoon Suk Yeol administration, his office announced on Thursday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the nominations were initially made in April by then acting President and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. Han had nominated Lee Wan-kyu, who was serving as the minister of government legislation, and Ham Sang-hun, a justice at the Seoul High Court, to succeed two retiring justices.

Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung stated in a briefing that "President Lee retracted the nominations that were made by former Prime Minister Han without authority."
