Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday pledged utmost efforts to help minimize barriers for corporate activities as he met with leaders of key conglomerates to discuss follow-up measures after the release of a joint fact sheet on bilateral trade and security agreements with the United States.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting came two days after Seoul and Washington released the joint document outlining agreements reached in their recent summit talks, including Seoul's US$350 billion investment plans in the U.S. in exchange for reducing U.S. tariffs from 25 percent to 15 percent.

"The government's key role is to ensure that companies can conduct activities in a free and creative manner across the globe," Lee told participants during the meeting held at the presidential office, as reported by the presidential office. The meeting saw the attendance of major business leaders, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and other chief executives from conglomerates such as HD Hyundai and Hanwha.

Addressing the outcome of the tariff talks, Lee acknowledged the complexity and necessity of the discussions amid a changing international order. He expressed satisfaction with the government's handling of the situation and urged companies to adapt swiftly to the new circumstances, viewing them as opportunities for growth.

He emphasized the importance of future-oriented strategies, highlighting that nothing surpasses the significance of the people's livelihood, with companies playing a critical role in resolving economic challenges. In this context, Lee committed to providing support measures for businesses, including deregulation, and assured a prompt resolution of any issues that may arise in the corporate sector.

Furthermore, the president urged companies to maintain robust domestic investments, addressing concerns that increased U.S. investments might negatively impact investments at home, as noted by the presidential office.
