San francisco: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met with Dario Amodei, chief executive officer of U.S. artificial intelligence company Anthropic PBC, on Friday and asked for his special attention to South Korea's AI sector. According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting took place on the first day of Lee's two-day trip to San Francisco aimed at promoting AI investment and cooperation between global tech giants and South Korea. President Lee expressed his pleasure at meeting Amodei, highlighting his reputation both globally and in South Korea. The president emphasized South Korea's plans to significantly expand investment in the AI sector and expressed hope for Anthropic's investment and contributions. In response, Amodei thanked Lee and acknowledged the South Korean government's focus on AI, expressing his anticipation for a broad spectrum of cooperation with the country. Amodei mentioned that Anthropic prioritizes collaboration with other companies and expressed hope for cooperation with South Korea in various areas, including data centers. Furthermore, he stated that Anthropic and South Korea's science ministry will sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in AI security and the cyber industry. Later in the day, President Lee was scheduled to meet with executives from three other global tech giants, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
