San francisco: President Lee Jae Myung embarked on an ambitious 11-day international tour, starting with a pivotal visit to San Francisco. This trip marks his inaugural journey to South America since assuming office in June 2025.

According to Yonhap News Agency, during his two-day stay in San Francisco, President Lee will engage with leaders of major global tech companies, including OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman and Nvidia's chief Jensen Huang. The agenda includes crucial discussions on investment and cooperative ventures. Other tech giants involved in these discussions are Anthropic and Broadcom.

A significant highlight of President Lee's visit will be his participation in a high-level event on artificial intelligence (AI). Here, he intends to unveil the "San Francisco AI Declaration," which will articulate South Korea's strategic vision for advancing its AI industry and fostering international collaboration, as noted by presidential officials.

Following his tech-focused engagements in San Francisco, President Lee will head to Brazil from Sunday through Wednesday. This visit is part of a broader strategy to bolster South Korea's diplomatic and economic presence in South America. In Brasilia, he will hold a summit with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, complemented by a business roundtable in Sao Paulo involving key South Korean and Brazilian firms.

The following leg of President Lee's journey will include visits to Chile and Argentina on Thursday and Friday, respectively. In these countries, he is scheduled to hold summit discussions with Chilean President Jose Antonio Kast and Argentine President Javier Milei. These meetings aim to forge economic and security partnerships, leveraging South America's abundant natural resources, as emphasized by National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac.

Before concluding his tour, President Lee will make a brief stopover in Frankfurt, Germany, on Sunday to meet with South Korean residents, before returning home the next day.
