Lee Declares War Against Rising Home Prices in South Korea

Seoul: South Korean newspapers have prominently featured President Lee's commitment to tackling the escalating home prices throughout the nation. Lee has made several public statements emphasizing his determination to stabilize the housing market. His administration is set on mitigating the housing price surge that has been causing concern among citizens.

According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee has warned owners of multiple homes against trying to evade government regulations. He has urged them to sell their extra properties as part of the government's strategy to normalize the overheated housing market. This initiative aims at preventing real estate speculation, which has been a significant factor in driving up house prices.

Various South Korean newspapers have reported on the government's efforts to address the issue, with some referring to it as a 'war' against real estate speculation. The administration is prepared to take necessary actions to ensure housing market stability, which remains a priority for the government. Lee's approach is seen as a direct response to the concerns of many citizens who are struggling with the high cost of housing in the country.

In addition to housing market stabilization, the newspapers also highlighted South Korea's economic milestones and challenges. The country recorded exports exceeding US$60 billion in January, driven notably by the semiconductor sector. However, the government is also bracing for tariff pressures under former U.S. President Trump's policies. Meanwhile, there are ongoing political activities, such as book publishing events by politicians, as the nation approaches the June local elections.
