Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung announced on Saturday that he is contemplating the creation of a dedicated organization to manage youth policies, as a response to the challenges faced by young people in the job market. During a Youth Day ceremony at the presidential office, Lee highlighted the struggles of the younger generation in securing employment opportunities.

According to Yonhap News Agency, President Lee emphasized the limitations of current policymakers in addressing the urgent needs of young job seekers. He pointed out that opportunities for the new generation are declining due to growing economic polarization and the impact of industrial restructuring driven by artificial intelligence.

The employment landscape for young job seekers has become increasingly challenging, with the employment rate for individuals aged 20 to 24 standing at 41.3 percent in the second quarter. This figure is notably lower compared to the 2025 average of 43.6 percent, as indicated by government data. President Lee's proposal for a dedicated body aims to address these issues and improve prospects for the youth.
