Lee Congratulates Trump and U.S. on 250th Anniversary of Independence

Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday congratulated U.S. President Donald Trump and the people of the United States on the 250th anniversary of American independence, referring to South Korea as a "precious partner" to the U.S. Lee wrote the message on X, formerly known as Twitter, as the U.S. commemorated the 250th anniversary of the nation's founding Saturday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee praised the United States for its journey toward the ideals of freedom and democracy over the past 250 years, acknowledging its pivotal role in overcoming global challenges and leading the international community toward peace and prosperity. He emphasized South Korea's partnership with the United States, noting their shared commitment to upholding these values.

Lee also paid tribute to the sacrifices made by young U.S. soldiers during the 1950-53 Korean War, expressing South Korea's enduring gratitude and commitment to remembering their contributions. He underscored the importance of further strengthening the alliance between Seoul and Washington.

Furthermore, Lee highlighted the evolving partnership between the two nations, which now extends beyond security matters to encompass cooperation in areas such as the economy, advanced technology, energy, shipbuilding, nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence. He stressed that South Korea, based on shared values and firm trust with Trump, aims to elevate the alliance to new heights, contributing to the peace and prosperity of both the Korean Peninsula and the broader world.
