Alberta: President Lee Jae Myung held a summit with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Canada on Tuesday and agreed to expand cooperation on a range of global issues, such as climate change, Lee's office said.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the leaders held the two countries' first summit in more than a decade on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Alberta. They were invited to the G7 gathering as guest participants.

During the meeting, Lee acknowledged Brazil's leadership in the Global South and emphasized South Korea's commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Brazil, its largest trading partner in South America.

"The two leaders reaffirmed the need for coordination on global issues, including responses to climate change, and agreed to expand collaboration on the international stage," the office said in a release.

They also agreed to further advance the two countries' comprehensive cooperative partnership, it noted.
