Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung has appointed vice ministers for the unification, interior and safety, agriculture, maritime affairs, and disaster response departments in the latest personnel appointments, the presidential office announced.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim Nam-jung, who previously served as the standing representative for inter-Korean talks, has been appointed as the vice minister of unification. Kim Min-jae, formerly an assistant vice minister at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, has been promoted to vice minister.

Kang Hyoung-seok, who was the director-general for agricultural innovation policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, has been elevated to a vice ministerial post. Additionally, Kim Sung-bum, previously the director-general for maritime policy at the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, has also been promoted to vice minister.

In a move to further strengthen the disaster response framework, Kim Gwang-yong, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, has been appointed as the head of the ministry's Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters.

"This round of vice ministerial appointments was aimed at achieving both stability and change by placing experienced career officials in key positions, enabling each ministry to deliver results immediately," presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung stated in a written briefing.
