Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung revealed that Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has proposed a collaboration on a joint film project during her visit to South Korea. He urged government officials to support the initiative.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee shared this development during a Cabinet meeting, where he tasked Culture Minister Chae Hwi-young with advancing the proposal. "Prime Minister Meloni suggested starting a joint film project together," Lee stated, highlighting the potential for cultural collaboration.

Lee also commented on the current state of the film and arts industry, expressing concern that it could face significant challenges if not properly supported. He emphasized that the collapse of the Korean culture industry would be problematic, especially given the growing global focus on Korean culture. Additionally, Lee mentioned the possibility of introducing a supplementary budget to bolster these sectors.

The proposal followed summit discussions in Seoul, where the two leaders agreed to enhance industrial cooperation in fields such as artificial intelligence, aerospace, semiconductors, and critical minerals. Lee also emphasized the significance of expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges, viewing them as a crucial aspect of soft power inspired by a rich cultural heritage.
