Seoul: President Lee Jae Myung spoke by phone with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh on Thursday, discussing ways to bolster their strategic partnership, Lee's office reported. This was the first conversation between the two leaders since Lee took office.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the discussions focused on expanding people-to-people exchanges and maintaining close communication to enhance bilateral ties. Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung, in a written briefing, shared that Lee proposed "mutually beneficial" cooperation, leveraging Mongolia's natural resources and South Korea's advanced technologies.

President Lee also acknowledged the opening of a memorial hall in Mongolia dedicated to Lee Tae-joon, a Korean independence activist who served as the physician to Mongolia's last khan. He expressed gratitude for the Mongolian government's support in this endeavor.

President Khurelsukh conveyed his appreciation for South Korea's attention to migrant workers, including those from Mongolia, as stated by Kang.
