Seoul: The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron has lodged a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against actor Kim Soo-hyun, alleging violations of the Child Welfare Act and making false accusations. Bu Ji-seok, the legal representative for Kim Sae-ron's family, announced this legal action during a press conference held in Seoul, reiterating claims of a past romantic involvement between the late actress and the actor, beginning when she was in her second year of middle school. Kim Soo-hyun has denied these allegations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the conference included the presentation of a recording purportedly capturing a conversation between Kim Sae-ron and an acquaintance. To protect the acquaintance's privacy, the voice was revoiced by another person. The family claimed this recording supports the allegation that the actress and Kim Soo-hyun were romantically involved for six years, with the relationship ending when she entered university.

Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, challenged the authenticity of the recording, describing it as "completely fabricated" and suggested it may have been produced using artificial intelligence. The agency announced plans to pursue legal action for defamation, arguing the recording is a deliberate attempt to harm the actor's reputation with what they claim is forged evidence.

This legal move by Kim Sae-ron's family follows a series of legal actions initiated by Kim Soo-hyun. Late last month, the actor filed a second stalking lawsuit against Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel Hoverlab, which was the first to bring forth the allegations of underage dating. This was in addition to a previous stalking lawsuit filed on April 2.

Furthermore, Kim Soo-hyun has filed legal complaints against both the YouTuber and the actress's family for releasing a photo of him without trousers and for allegedly threatening him. He is seeking 12 billion won (approximately US$8.14 million) in damages related to these complaints.
