Seoul: SSG Landers outfielder Guillermo Heredia has earned his third consecutive top defense award in South Korean baseball. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) unveiled the winners of its third annual KBO Fielding Award on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, voting by the manager, nine coaches, and the general manager from each of the 10 clubs accounted for 75 percent, while fielding statistics accounted for the remaining 25 percent. Heredia became the first player to win three consecutive Fielding Awards, after earning 97.92 points out of a maximum 100 in left field. The two other outfield winners were LG Twins center fielder Park Hae-min (95.83) and Samsung Lions right fielder Kim Seong-yoon (82.50). Park was the 2023 winner, and Kim is the first-time recipient.

KT Wiz starter Ko Young-pyo became the first South Korean-born pitcher to win the award, after collecting 90.63 points to hold off Lions pitcher Ariel Jurado (86.23). Two former NC Dinos pitchers, Erick Fedde and Kyle Hart, had won the first two editions of this award. Dinos catcher Kim Hyung-jun won his first Fielding Award with 86.25 points.

The four winners in the infield were: Lions first baseman Lewin Diaz (93.75), Dinos second baseman Park Min-woo (87.50), Heroes third baseman Song Sung-mun (98.21), and Dinos shortstop Kim Ju-won (90.63). Kim and Park Chan-ho, who played for the Kia Tigers in 2025 and signed as a free agent with the Doosan Bears earlier Tuesday, were tied in points, but Kim won the tiebreaker after earning more votes from the team officials than Park, who had won this award in 2023 and 2024. All four infield winners were first-timers.

The winners will each receive a trophy and prize money of 2 million won (US$1,360) at the KBO Awards ceremony next Monday.
