Chicago: South Korea's main bourse operator, the Korea Exchange (KRX), announced its participation in the FIA Expo 2025, a significant global event focused on derivative products. This event served as a platform for KRX to promote South Korea's derivatives market to international investors.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the two-day expo, which concluded on Tuesday in Chicago, attracted approximately 4,000 industry officials. The event was organized by the Futures Industry Association (FIA), recognized as the world's largest association for derivative products.
KRX highlighted the achievements of its after-hours derivatives market launched in June and shared recent reforms in the Korean derivatives market. The exchange expressed its intentions to enhance communication with investors and bolster the competitiveness of the local derivatives market. This initiative aligns with the rising interest in South Korea's capital market, driven by the ongoing bull run in the local stock market.
The United States holds a crucial position for Korean derivative products, with American investors maintaining the second-largest number of accounts in KRX's derivatives market. Additionally, U.S. investors ranked sixth in trading value last year, as reported by the bourse operator.
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the launch of South Korea's derivatives market, adding significance to KRX's efforts to expand its global footprint.
