South korea: South Korea's benchmark stock index briefly topped the 4,500-point mark Tuesday for the first time, setting a fresh record high. The KOSPI's milestone came just one day after it surpassed the 4,400-point threshold, driven by gains in technology stocks.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the main index opened lower on Tuesday due to profit-taking but later reversed course. Institutions and retail investors actively purchased technology and other large-cap shares, pushing the index higher. By 2:08 p.m., the KOSPI stood at 4,491.98, marking an increase of 34.46 points, or 0.77 percent, from the previous session.
