Seoul: The KOSPI 200, a key stock market index in South Korea, experienced a significant downturn with several major companies witnessing declines in their stock prices. Notably, KCC saw its stock price decrease by 3,000 to close at 395,000, while HD Hyundai Heavy Industries faced a drop of 10,000, closing at 510,000.
According to Yonhap News Agency, other companies followed suit with LS falling by 1,600 to 176,000 and kakaopay also decreasing by 1,600 to 58,200. HYBE experienced a downturn of 2,000, closing at 285,000, and TaekwangInd faced a 20,000 fall to 847,000. POSCO FUTURE M's price dropped by 2,900 to 138,400, and Samsung Biologics decreased by 5,000 to 996,000.
On the other hand, a few companies recorded gains. LG Corp. rose by 600 to 75,100, while KG Mobility saw a slight increase of 20 to 3,350. KRAFTON and ORION also experienced upturns, with increases of 3,500 to reach 331,000 and 400 to 108,200 respectively. Additionally, DB INSURANCE showed a significant rise, gaining 5,800 to close at 137,700.
The fluctuating market trends were further illustrated by HD HYUNDAI and HANWHA SYSTEMS, which both saw rises of 200, closing at 137,300 and 51,100 respectively. However, many companies including Samsung Electronics, which fell by 2,100 to 67,600, and POSCO Holdings, which decreased by 4,500 to 281,000, contributed to the overall decline in the index.
