KOSPI 200 Sees Notable Declines in Major Stocks

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index experienced a significant downturn, with several major companies closing at lower prices. Among the most affected were HYBE, Shinsegae, and LGCHEM, which saw substantial drops in their stock prices.

According to Yonhap News Agency, HYBE closed at 188,800, marking a decrease of 36,200. Shinsegae also reported a steep decline, ending the day at 465,500, down by 51,500. LGCHEM's shares fell by 19,500, closing at 240,500. These declines contributed to the overall downward trend observed in the KOSPI 200 index.

Other notable declines included POSCO FUTURE M, which saw its stock price decrease by 10,700 to close at 132,900, and HD-Hyundai Marine Engine, which dropped by 10,900, ending at 54,700. Meanwhile, KEPCO EandC and Hyundai Rotem reported decreases of 8,300 and 9,900, respectively.

In contrast, Nongshim and LIG Defense and Aerospace were among the few companies to record gains. Nongshim's stock rose by 500 to close at 377,000, while LIG Defense and Aerospace increased by 1,000 to reach 69,700. These positive movements were exceptions in an otherwise challenging day for the KOSPI 200 index.

The declines in stock prices reflect broader market trends affecting major industries, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. Companies such as LG Electronics, with a drop of 14,800, and Shinhan Group, down by 4,100, indicate the widespread nature of the downturn across various sectors.
