Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index showcased a mixed performance today, with notable gains in the retail and tire sectors. Several companies witnessed substantial changes in their closing prices, reflecting varied market responses.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Emart led the gains with a significant increase of 6,300, closing at 100,700. Hankook Tire and Technology also saw a strong rise, climbing by 400 to reach 57,400. Meanwhile, iM Financial Group and Samsung Securities reported increases of 440 and 3,700, closing at 17,240 and 102,300, respectively.
In the logistics and pharmaceutical sectors, CJ Logistics and Chongkundang experienced growth, with their prices rising by 1,000 and 2,000, closing at 113,800 and 88,700, respectively. Yuhan also saw an increase, closing at 100,300 after a rise of 1,600.
On the other hand, some companies faced declines. Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. ended the day with decreases of 1,100 and 2,000, closing at 199,400 and 400,500, respectively. Korea Aerospace experienced a notable drop of 4,700, closing at 185,700. Additionally, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries saw a decline of 8,000, closing at 559,000.
Despite some downturns, other sectors showed resilience. LG Electronics and NHIS rose by 1,700 and 2,200, closing at 117,900 and 35,600, respectively. Doosan also made significant gains, closing at 1,186,000 after a rise of 37,000.
