Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index closed with a mix of gains and losses among its constituent stocks, reflecting varied investor sentiment in the market. Among the notable changes, HD Hyundai and S-Oil made significant gains, while Hyundai Motor and SK hynix saw notable declines.
According to Yonhap News Agency, HD Hyundai surged by 3,500, closing at 254,500, while S-Oil climbed by 7,500 to finish at 119,600. KOLON IND also experienced a rise, increasing by 6,700 to settle at 90,000, and LOTTE CHEMICAL Corp added 5,100, closing at 96,700. These upward movements were contrasted by declines in other major stocks.
Hyundai Motor faced a sharp drop, decreasing by 18,500 to end at 489,500, and SK hynix fell by 35,000, closing at 998,000. Samsung Electronics also experienced a decline, down 6,500 to end at 204,000, while Kia Corp. saw a decrease of 8,700, finishing at 150,500. The mixed performance reflects ongoing market volatility influenced by various economic factors.
Other significant movements included Shinsegae, which gained 16,500 to close at 346,500, and POSCO Holdings, up by 4,500 to reach 367,000. Meanwhile, Hanwha dropped by 2,600, ending at 121,200, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction fell by 5,300 to close at 183,400. These fluctuations indicate a diverse range of investor reactions across different sectors within the KOSPI 200 index.
