Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed varied movements as trading closed, with significant gains observed in the technology and financial sectors. KakaoBank led the charge with an increase of 1,550 points, closing at 22,850. SK ie technology also saw a rise, ending at 23,550 with an increase of 1,250 points.
According to Yonhap News Agency, financial entities like WooriFinancialGroup recorded a modest uptick of 60 points, finishing at 15,740. S-1 and DWS were among the gainers, with S-1 closing at 59,000, up by 1,200 points, and DWS reaching 35,500 after a 1,000-point increase. Other notable advances included SamsungSecu and LG Display, which rose by 150 and 70 points, respectively.
However, not all companies experienced growth. DL E and C experienced a decline of 650 points, closing at 30,900, while SamsungE and A dropped by 340 points to close at 17,730. Telecommunications giant KT experienced a drop of 250 points, finishing at 46,450.
The index also featured several prominent gainers. NAVER recorded a substantial increase of 10,500 points, ending at 229,000, while LG H and H saw an impressive 15,000-point rise, closing at 311,000. Meanwhile, Kakao and NCsoft also performed well, with Kakao closing at 43,200 after a rise of 2,300 points, and NCsoft at 173,500, up by 5,200 points.
Despite some losses, the overall sentiment in the technology and finance sectors remained positive, with investors showing confidence in key players like HANMISemi and Samsung Card, which saw gains of 2,900 and 650 points, respectively.
