Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index witnessed a significant downturn, with the majority of listed companies experiencing declines in their closing prices. Prominent names such as Samsung Biologics and Hyundai Autoever faced substantial losses, contributing to the overall negative trend in the market.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung Biologics saw its share price drop by 34,000, closing at 1,711,000. Similarly, Hyundai Autoever experienced a decrease of 31,500, closing at 430,000. Other notable declines included HD Hyundai Electric, which fell by 53,000 to 836,000, and SK Square, which dropped by 65,000 to 505,000.
Amidst the widespread declines, a few companies managed to register gains. Orion saw a modest increase of 300, closing at 117,800, while APR rose by 4,000 to reach 274,000. Additionally, TaekwangInd recorded an increase of 4,000, closing at 877,000, and kakaopay inched up by 100, reaching 63,500.
Despite these gains, the overall sentiment remained negative, with companies like LS, HYBE, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries seeing declines of 32,300, 17,000, and 26,000 respectively. The broader market's performance indicates a challenging environment for investors, with only a few companies defying the downward trend.
