KOSPI 200 Experiences Widespread Declines as Major Companies See Losses

Seoul: The KOSPI 200 index saw significant declines in its closing prices, with many major companies reporting losses. Among the notable decreases, Korea Zinc experienced a substantial drop, with its share price falling by 234,000 points to 1,650,000. Similarly, LS Electric saw a decline of 40,000, bringing its share price to 526,000.

According to Yonhap News Agency, other significant losses included Samsung Epis Holding, which decreased by 22,000 to 584,000, and Hanwha Aerospace, which fell by 61,000 to 1,239,000. SK, another major player, reported a decrease of 34,000, resulting in a closing price of 299,500. Additionally, HDKSOE saw a decline of 12,000, closing at 401,500.

The financial sector was also affected, with IBK's share price dropping by 350 to 21,800. Meanwhile, KEPCO experienced a 1,000-point decrease, closing at 57,300. In the retail sector, Lotte Shopping's shares fell by 700 to 83,300, while Cheil Worldwide saw an 850-point decrease, ending at 21,100.

Despite the widespread declines, some companies reported gains. Coway's share price increased by 200, reaching 83,600, and S-1 saw an 800-point rise, closing at 80,400. PanOcean and Lotte Wellfood also experienced increases, with their share prices rising by 140 and 2,800, respectively.

The overall sentiment in the market was one of caution, as the majority of listed companies on the KOSPI 200 index experienced declines. The market's performance will be closely monitored in the coming days as investors assess the implications of these developments.
