Koreas to hold sports talks this week
SEOUL, South and North Korea will hold sports talks later this week to discuss forming united teams for the 2020 Summer Olympics and other international sports events, the unification ministry said Wednesday.
The meeting will be held at their joint liaison office in the North's border town of Kaesong on Friday, according to the ministry.
Vice Sports Minister Roh Tae-kang will lead a South Korean delegation to the talks. His North Korean counterpart will be Vice Sports Minister Won Kil-u, the ministry said.
The two sides will discuss forming united teams for the 2020 Summer Olympics and other cooperation, including jointly bidding for the hosting of the 2032 Summer Olympic Games, the ministry said.
The meeting was a follow-up to an agreement the two Koreas reached in their high-level talks in mid-October to discuss sports cooperation later this month.
