Seoul: The reigning Korean Series champions LG Twins announced their signing of Australian pitcher Lachlan Wells as their Asian quota player for the upcoming season.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the Twins confirmed that the left-hander has agreed to a one-year deal worth US$200,000, which is the maximum amount permitted for Asian quota players. Starting in 2026, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) will allow teams to sign a player from an Asian country or Australia, in addition to three foreign-born players. The Asian quota player must have played in Asia or Australia in the season immediately before signing with a KBO team.

In the 2025 season, Wells recorded a 1-1 win-loss record with a 3.15 ERA in four appearances as a temporary injury replacement for the Kiwoom Heroes, another KBO club. Before this stint, Wells showcased his skills in the Australian Baseball League, where he earned the MVP award in 2023, and progressed to Double-A in the U.S. minor leagues.

The LG Twins expressed their confidence in Wells, stating, "Lachlan Wells is an experienced left-hander who can command all of his pitches, and he proved he can compete at this level during the 2025 season. We believe he can add depth to our pitching staff."
