Seoul: A remake of the Hollywood hit "The Intern" (2015), featuring Korean actors Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee, is set to premiere in local theaters next month, as announced by the film's distributor on Tuesday. The local adaptation brings a fresh take on the story, with Han So-hee stepping into the role of Sun-woo, a driven fashion entrepreneur, and Choi Min-sik portraying Ki-ho, an intern with an extensive 37-year career.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the original Hollywood version of "The Intern," which starred Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro, was a global success and managed to attract 3.6 million moviegoers in South Korea alone. This remake is expected to draw significant attention, given the popularity of the original film and the star power of its Korean cast.

The film is directed by Kim Do-young, who is known for his work on "Once We Were Us" (2025), a remake of the Chinese romance-drama "Us and Them" (2018). His involvement in the project adds to the anticipation surrounding the release, as audiences are eager to see how the story is adapted for a Korean audience.
