Los Angeles: Another Korean American has secured a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, marking a significant addition to the growing list of Korean American lawmakers serving in Congress. State Senator Dave Min, representing the Democratic Party, emerged victorious over his Republican opponent, Scott Baugh, in a closely contested race for California's 47th Congressional District. According to Yonhap News Agency, this election represents Min's inaugural foray into the lower chamber of Congress. In a statement shared on X, previously known as Twitter, Min expressed his dedication to the nation's future: "I know many of us are anxious about the future of our country, but we cannot give up on America. In Congress, I will fight to protect our democracy, safeguard our freedoms, and expand economic opportunity." Min's election contributes to a modest yet increasing number of Korean American legislators, joining the ranks of figures such as Rep. Andy Kim, who holds the distinction of being the first Korean A merican elected to the Senate. Prior to his election to the California State Senate in 2020, Min served as an assistant law professor at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. His academic credentials include degrees from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and Harvard Law School.
