Korea urges Japan to take responsibility for “comfort women” issue

Ambassador Hahn Choong-hee, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations in New York
The Republic of Korea has called on Japan to acknowledge its army forced thousands of women to work as wartime sex slaves.
Ambassador Hahn Choong-hee made the appeal during a General Assembly meeting on the advancement of women earlier in the week.
Many of these so-called “comfort women” are getting older and have yet to receive any justice or reparation.
