Seoul: Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI), South Korea's only aircraft manufacturer, announced its signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a defense company from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to collaborate in the aerospace sector. The agreement, established with EDGE Platforms and Systems, a division of the UAE's defense conglomerate EDGE Group, is aimed at exploring business prospects in international markets by utilizing the technological and expert strengths of both companies.

According to Yonhap News Agency, KAI and EDGE Platforms and Systems intend to engage in technology cooperation, joint research and production, as well as expand the export of defense products to Middle Eastern markets. The collaboration will potentially cover areas such as fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services.

KAI Senior Executive Vice President Cha Jae-byoung emphasized the significance of the partnership in a press release, stating that it offers both parties a valuable opportunity to merge their aerospace capabilities and generate new avenues for growth.
